11+ Tuition in Sutton Coldfield That Gets Results

Securing a place at a top local grammar school is a significant goal, and the right preparation is key. At LME Academy, we are incredibly proud that our students have secured coveted places at leading local grammar schools, including Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls.

Our success comes from a unique, blended approach that provides a more comprehensive and effective preparation than traditional tutoring methods.

The LME Academy Difference: Our Unique Approach to the 11+

We know that parents in Sutton Coldfield have choices when it comes to 11+ preparation, from established centres like Sutton Tutorials and Explore Learning to other local providers. Many centres have a single, fixed approach to their teaching.

We believe a more powerful, modern strategy is needed. That’s why we have developed a unique blended programme that combines two of the UK’s most respected educational resources: First Class Learning (FCL) and CGP Books.

Pillar 1: Deep Foundational Skills with First Class Learning

Success in the 11+ is not about last-minute cramming; it’s about deep-seated, fluent skills in Maths and English. We use the FCL programme’s “little and often” approach to build a rock-solid foundation. This daily practice ensures your child masters core concepts, develops mental agility, and can tackle complex problems with speed and accuracy under exam pressure.

Pillar 2: Exam Technique & Mastery with CGP

Once the foundation is secure, we use CGP’s award-winning 11+ resources—the UK’s favourite educational books—for targeted exam preparation. This allows us to focus on:

Our 11+ Programme Covers All Key Areas

Our structured programme is designed to give your child a competitive edge, focusing on the specific requirements of the Birmingham, Warwickshire, and Walsall 11+ exams (CEM/GL Assessment).

We recommend that children begin their formal 11+ preparation in Year 3. Starting this early allows us to build a deep and solid foundation in all the core Maths and English skills in a gradual, stress-free way. It gives your child the invaluable gift of time to develop true mastery and confidence. We strongly advise that the latest a child should begin focused preparation with us is the start of Year 4. This still provides enough time to cover the syllabus thoroughly. Of course, we are happy to assess your child at any stage to provide a realistic plan and honest recommendation.
While many centres use a single method or their own materials, we believe our blended approach is more effective. We combine the daily, foundational skill-building of the FCL programme with the curriculum-aligned, exam-specific practice of CGP books. This dual strategy builds both deep academic fluency and sharp exam technique.
Yes, our programme is tailored to the specific exam formats used by the local grammar schools, which are primarily based on the CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring) and GL Assessment styles.
We are exceptionally proud of our students' achievements and have a proven track record of helping them secure places at highly selective schools, including Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls. While individual success depends on many factors, our role is to provide the best possible preparation to maximise your child's chances.
Our programme is built on the "little and often" principle. Students receive a short, manageable FCL worksheet for each day, which takes around 15-20 minutes. This is supplemented by targeted CGP practice closer to the exam. This consistent routine is far more effective than hours of cramming once a week.
